Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE) President & Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield announced today that the NBA has selected BSE Senior Vice President of Partnership Marketing Michael Wandell to become Vice President of Marketing Partnerships to build on NBA China's successful sponsorship business, effective January 2013. Wandell will relocate to the league's Beijing office and will report to NBA China Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing Partnerships David Yang.

“We are delighted that the league has recognized the talent and ability of one of our key executives,” said Whitfield. “While we are sad to see Michael go, we know that he has left our business in a far better place as a result of his hard work and dedication to our organization.”

Wandell, who joined BSE in August 2009, has been instrumental in securing new partnerships with companies like US Airways, Geico, Mobilitie, Duke Energy, Husqvarna, CPI Security, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Electrolux. He was also vital during the renewal process of founding level partners Lowe’s and Wells Fargo, in addition to the organization’s first-ever Level 23 partnership with Presbyterian Hospital.

Prior to joining the Bobcats, Wandell had stints with the Phoenix Suns and Mercury and the Indiana Pacers. A native of Champaign, Illinois, Wandell graduated from Northwestern University.
