SportSouth to Air 81 Bobcats Games in HD This Season
One Preseason, 80 Regular Season Games Will Reach Nearly 1.8 Million Households

October 14, 2010

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE) President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield and FOX Sports Carolinas and SportSouth Senior Vice President and General Manager Jeff Genthner announced today that one preseason and 80 regular season Bobcats games will be televised on SportSouth during the 2010-11 NBA season. This marks the largest number of Bobcats games ever broadcast in a single season, the first time that the complete regional broadcast schedule will be televised solely on SportSouth, and the first time that all games are scheduled to be broadcast in high definition. SportSouth, along with its sister network FOX Sports Carolinas, is in its third year as BSE’s regional television partner.

"When we formed this broadcast partnership back in 2008 we knew we were aligning ourselves with one of the best regional sports networks in the nation," said Whitfield. "But showing 81 games in high definition exceeds even our expectations, and those that benefit the most are the nearly two million households and businesses across North and South Carolina that will see every minute of action this season on SportSouth."

"The 2010-11 NBA season will be a season of firsts for Bobcats’ fans," said Genthner. "This is the first season every Bobcats game will be televised as we opted to increase our coverage to 80 regular season games with two games scheduled on national TV. This season will also be the first time all games will be available in HD and all locally televised games will be positioned on SportSouth, creating a new fixed television home for the Bobcats thus simplifying the viewing experience for fans. Moreover, as in previous seasons, every game will include a full Bobcats LIVE pre- and post-game show with Steve Martin, Dell Curry and Stephanie Ready."

For the second season, former Charlotte Hornets standout Dell Curry teams up with long-time play-by-play announcer Steve Martin and courtside reporter Stephanie Ready to call the action on SportSouth. In addition to game telecasts, Martin, Curry and Ready will co-host Bobcats LIVE expanded pre- and post-game coverage for all 81 game telecasts. Overall, 42 road games, including all 41 regular season matchup, and 39 home games will be carried on SportSouth this season. Preseason coverage starts Monday, October 18 when the Bobcats visit LeBron James and the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m. ET, and regular season coverage begins with Opening Night on Wednesday, October 27 when the Bobcats travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks at 8:30 p.m. ET. The rest of the regular season schedule includes 15 games against Southeast Division rivals Atlanta, Miami, Orlando and Washington, including all four regular season games with the Heat, and two games against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. The schedule also features 26 games against Western Conference opponents, and SportSouth will air 24 of the final 25 games of the regular season.

The FOX Sports regional networks serving the Southeast – FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Carolinas, FOX Sports Tennessee and SportSouth – collectively reach more than 12.9 million cable and satellite households in seven states across the Southeast. They are the television home of the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Thrashers, Carolina Hurricanes, Charlotte Bobcats, Memphis Grizzlies and Nashville Predators, as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference, Southeastern Conference and Southern Conference, and offer expanded coverage of the University of Kentucky, University of South Carolina and University of Tennessee. Combined, the four networks producer more than 800 live local events each year. For more information, please visit FOXSportsCarolinas.com.
