Charlotte Hornets, Bank of America To Honor Technical Sergeant Timothy D. Montjoy, USAF, Ret., As Second Yellow Ribbon Honoree Of 2016-17 Season

December 2, 2016 – The Charlotte Hornets and Bank of America on Saturday will honor Technical Sergeant Timothy D. Montjoy, USAF, Ret., as this season’s second recipient of the season-long Yellow Ribbon Program. In partnership with Bank of America, the Hornets honor military members and veterans for their unwavering service to our country, and the Yellow Ribbon Program recognizes one of these heroes during one Hornets home game per month. Recipients are featured in the game program, honored prior to the national anthem and during an on-court presentation at halftime and given four tickets to the game. In addition, the Hornets make a $1,000 donation to the recipients' charity of choice.

“The Charlotte Hornets and Bank of America are glad to honor individuals like Technical Sergeant Montjoy,” said Hornets Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield. “We are proud to highlight veterans not only for their service to our country but for their dedication to their community.”

Technical Sergeant Montjoy spent 20 years in the United States Air Force before retiring on Dec. 1, 2016. For the last year, Technical Sergeant Montjoy served as the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Communications Focal Point, 20th Communications Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. There, he managed Tier-1 technical support by monitoring and reporting services related to Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I).  Over the course of his career he was stationed overseas on multiple occasions, including stops in Turkey, Korea, Qatar and Afghanistan,

Technical Sergeant Montjoy has a passion for volunteering, especially with organizations that support the betterment of military communities. He is the founder of Operation Teammate, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that partners with sports teams to welcome children of military members and first responders as honorary teammates during times of separation. Operation Teammate’s events have allowed more than 100 children and family members to attend sporting events.

This season’s first Yellow Ribbon Program honoree was Lieutenant Colonel Rick Cantwell, USA, Ret. Last season’s honorees were Sergeant First Class Jeremy Hetrick, USA, Ret.; Senior Master Sergeant Horace E. Booker, USAF, Ret.; Specialist Daniel Schugel, USA, Ret.; Captain Sara Yon, USA, Ret.; First Sergeant Ezekiel Ancrum Jr., USA, Ret.; and First Sergeant Randy L. Moore, USA, Ret.
