Lin Appears in New NBA Television Spot to Celebrate Chinese New Year

January 21, 2016 – Charlotte Hornets guard Jeremy Lin appears in a new television spot from the NBA as the league celebrates and shares the joy of the Chinese New Year from Feb. 3 – 21.

The television spot, “Dining Table,” features Lin, the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and the Houston Rockets’ James Harden sharing a special Chinese New Year reunion meal with a Chinese family. Hornets fans can view the spot online at hornets.com and across the team’s social channels.

The spot will air from Jan. 19 – Feb. 22 across all of NBA China’s television and digital partners’ platforms, including NBA.com/China and mobile and social media assets. In the U.S., the spot will debut on television on Feb. 3.

Additionally, the NBA’s Chinese New Year activation will include 51 live games broadcast and streamed by 10 broadcasters in Greater China, showcasing all 30 NBA teams for the first time. The Hornets will have three appearances. The team’s game vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, Feb. 3, will be streamed on Tencent. China Central Television (CCTV) will air back-to-back Hornets contests on Friday, Feb. 5, vs. the Miami Heat and Saturday, Feb. 6, vs. the Washington Wizards.

Fans in mainland China will also be treated to a record-breaking number of nationally broadcast games as CCTV will air 18 games and Tencent will stream 31 games during the campaign. In addition to CCTV and Tencent, fans will also be able to tune in to Guangdong TV, Beijing TV, BesTV, Videoland, Fox Sports, Elta, Taiwan Mobile, and NowTV to enjoy the games.

The Hornets will celebrate the holiday with in-arena activations on Monday, Feb. 8, when the team hosts the Chicago Bulls at Time Warner Cable Arena at 7 p.m. The evening will feature Chinese-American singer Lynn Lee performing the national anthem, a halftime presentation by local Chinese heritage group Peaceful Dragon and a timeout appearance by the Carolinas Chinese-American Drum and Cheer Team.
