Second Annual Cody Zeller Sock Drive Presented By Hanes Tips Off Friday

December 4, 2014 – For the second consecutive season, Charlotte Hornets forward Cody Zeller is encouraging fans to help him and the team collect socks to help those in need within the Charlotte community. The Cody Zeller Sock Drive is presented by Hanes® with all the proceeds benefiting The Salvation Army's Center of Hope Women and Children’s Shelter, an emergency shelter in Charlotte.

As part of the Cody Zeller Sock Drive, fans are encouraged to bring a new pack of socks to any Hornets home game from Dec. 5-28 at Time Warner Cable Arena. Additionally, fans will be able to make monetary donations during games by visiting the table in the main lobby, located outside of section 117. Fans donating a pack of socks or a minimum of $5 will be entered into a drawing to win six tickets in the Hanes Comfort Zone to watch the Hornets take on the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 14. The winner will also meet Zeller and receive an autographed jersey prior to tip off.

"Once again I am calling fans to join me in assisting those in need within the Charlotte community by donating socks," said Zeller. "We had great success last year, donating more than 2,000 pair of socks, and this year, the goal is to get even more. During the winter, socks become one of the biggest needs in shelters. We hope to keep as many people warm and comfortable as possible."

Donation bins will be set out during games only. Like last year, all of the socks collected will be personally delivered by Zeller to The Salvation Army's Center of Hope Women and Children’s Shelter.
