STEVE STOWE

Vice President/Executive Director, Miami HEAT Charitable Fund

Entering his 24th season with the Miami HEAT, and seventh as Vice President/Executive Director of the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund, Steve Stowe oversees the fundraising arm of the team, while working alongside the players and coaches to support their local philanthropic endeavors, including the Corporate Education Community Outreach Ticket Program and Pat Riley’s military appreciation initiative, Home Strong. Additionally, he acts as a liaison between the board of directors and the rest of the organization. 

Stowe’s efforts have been instrumental in the HEAT’s creation, development, and implementation of historic platforms and curricula that address societal justice and bridging the gap between law enforcement and the South Florida community. As a result of this initiative, he was the co-winner of the 2022 "Values of the Game" Award by the NBA, which recognizes an individual or individuals who inspire and connect people everywhere, but specifically in their community, through the power of basketball.

Stowe organizes the annual Miami HEAT Family Festival and the annual Team Charity Gala and Concert, which have featured private performances from artists such as Kool & The Gang, Mary J. Blige, Rick Ross, Dermot Kennedy, Earth, Wind & Fire, Vanilla Ice, Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men, D-Nice, The Doo Wop Project, The Temptations and The Four Tops, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Comedian Gary Owen, The Commodores, and Michael McDonald.

Throughout his time leading the HEAT’s charitable efforts and other unique team special events, his staff has enjoyed the success of raising more then $23 million for local non-profit beneficiaries.  Stowe first joined the HEAT in 2000 as a member of the organization’s Community Affairs department, where he focused on social responsibility issues and NBA related causes.  Prior to joining the HEAT, Stowe worked in the marketing department for the Florida Panthers (NHL) from 1996-98. Before his time with the Panthers, he was an Equity Trader in the NASDAQ Stock Market, conducting extensive research of financial market performance.

Stowe is a Board Member for the YMCA of South Florida, the Dade Schools Athletic Foundation, the Miami Beach Police Athletic League, and the Voices for Children Foundation.  Most recently, Stowe was selected to join the Executive Board of Directors for Feeding South Florida, The Miami Center for Racial Justice and led as a steering member for Support Surfside, a collaborative response that assisted the victims and survivors of the Champlain Towers collapse.  Together with The Miami Foundation and other community partners, Support Surfside successfully raised over $5M through this collaboration.

A 1995 graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Stowe also earned a master’s degree in Sports Management and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Barry University.  He was the recipient of Barry University’s 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award.

A native and resident of Miami Beach, he and his wife, Johanna, are the parents of Zayden, Zahara and Zia.
