Tavares Notches Double-Double In Final Summer Tune-Up

Playing in their final game of the pool play portion of Las Vegas Summer League, the Atlanta Hawks opted to try new lineup combinations and give some players court time who hadn't played yet this week.

Head Coach Kenny Atkinson opted to start a lineup of DeAndre Kane, Lamar Patterson, Glenn Robinson III, Brandon Ashley and Edy Tavares.  It was the first start of the week for Kane, Robinson and Ashley.

Tavares had his most effective game so far, finishing with 12 points on 3-4 shooting, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks in 24 minutes. He also went 6-6 from the free throw line and looked generally more comfortable on the floor than he had in the team's two previous games, which is a good sign.  He had 6 fouls, which continues to be something the coaches are working with him on, but he showed great overall improvement.

Patterson led the way with 15 points, and Robinson had another double-figure scoring effort in his second game with the team.

Mike Muscala and Stephen Holt, each of whom started the first two games of the week, got a day off Monday.  Atkinson said he expects to return to a similar lineup as Games 1 & 2 when the tournament starts on Tuesday.

Tomas Bellas and Jon Horford checked in early in the first half, which means all 16 players have played this week.

The Hawks finished pool play 1-2 and will play their first tournament game on Wednesday. Time and opponent are still TBD.
