Hawks Add 3D Projection System To Create Stunning Game Experience

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks will debut a state-of-the-art, 3D projection system when the team takes the floor for the regular season home opener versus the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, Nov. 1st. The system, created and installed in Philips Arena by Quince Imaging, will allow the entire playing surface to be used as a video screen during pregame introductions and select halftime performances.

The projection system will be on full-display during Opening Night starting with the team’s player introductions. The projection-inspired images will create a breathtaking and visually stunning experience for Hawks fans before they get set to cheer on their team.

“Adding the 3D projection technology to our game presentation will make the experience so much richer and visually attractive for our fans. Our player introductions before the game will be second to none and fans will want to arrive early so they don’t miss out,” CEO Steve Koonin said.

In addition to the new 3D projection technology, the sound system and video board inside the arena are being upgraded. The installation of audio equipment manufactured by HARMAN International’s JBL brand, the official audio partner of the National Basketball Association, will improve the gameday experience for fans by providing more robust and intelligible audio output than previously heard in Philips Arena. Atlanta-based Baker Audio Visual will complete the audio equipment installation.

To enhance the visual experience for fans in the building, video panel displays on the center-hung scoreboard are being replaced with high-definition displays provided by Daktronics.

Due to the installation of the new audio and video equipment, there will be no center-hung scoreboard for the two remaining home preseason contests (versus Detroit on Oct. 18th and versus Charlotte on Oct. 20th). Game information will be displayed on the two large screens in both end zones of the arena.
