10, 2012 -The Atlanta Hawks and Kia Motors America (KMA), Official Partner of the Atlanta Hawks, will continue their summer basketball tradition by hosting the sixth annual Atlanta Hawks Kia Summer Hoops Tour. The tour tipped off on July 9 at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center in LaGrange, Georgia and will open to the public on July 10 in Austell, Ga.
“Throughout July, the Atlanta Hawks 2012 Kia Summer Hoops Tour will offer 20 high-energy basketball clinics at various Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, youth leagues and other recreational facilities across the metro Atlanta area. Admission to each of the clinics is free and open to the public.
“Joining with our partner Kia Motors to continue offering the Atlanta Hawks Kia Summer Hoops Tour to more than 800 youth throughout metro Atlanta each July is something we look forward to every offseason,” said Bob Williams, President, Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena. “It provides a platform for us to stay committed and involved in the communities where our fans live, work and play and to offer a unique opportunity for our young athletes to get excited about the sport of basketball.”
The clinics will teach the fundamentals of basketball to youths in the metro Atlanta community as well as emphasize the importance of education, dedication, teamwork and responsibility along with helping players improve their basketball skills. Participants in the clinics will receive a basketball jersey and drawstring bag courtesy of KMA and the Atlanta Hawks, and video recaps and photos from each clinic will be available online at www.hawks.com/youthbasketball.
