Jeff Teague Named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

ATLANTA, GA -- Jeff Teague today was named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Dec. 29 through Sunday, Jan. 4.

Teague led the Hawks to a perfect 3-0 week (home win over Cleveland and road victories at Utah and Portland), averaging an Eastern-Conference best 23.7 points, 8.3 assists (tied for second in the East), 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals (tied for second) in 35.3 minutes. He scored over 20 points and shot at least .500 FG% in all three games.

In the Dec. 30 win over Cleveland, Teague compiled 23 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and three steals in 35 minutes (8-13 FGs, 1-4 3FGs, 6-10 FTs). He followed that up with 26 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes at Utah on Jan. 2 (9-17 FGs, 2-4 3FGs, 6-7 FTs) and one night later at Portland, finished with 22 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes (8-16 FGs, 6-6 FTs). He committed one turnover over the final two games while dishing out 14 assists. Teague also moved into ninth place in franchise history in 3FGM during the week (268).

Averaging 17.3 points, 7.0 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals (.482 FG%, .871 FT%) on the season, Teague ranks 10th in the NBA in apg, 11th in spg, 16th in FT%, t19th in FTM (135) and t31st in ppg. The award is the second weekly honor of his career, having been honored on 4/14/14. It’s also the second time in three weeks a Hawks player has been named Player of the Week (Al Horford – 12/22/14).

Atlanta has won 18-of-20 overall and seven straight against the Western Conference. For the week, the Hawks led the East in scoring (107.3 ppg) and steals (10.3 spg) for the week.
