Tony Allen to distribute coats to area youth

Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen will distribute 150 coats, provided by Allen, to Memphis-area youth from Knowledge Quest on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Gaston Community Center today. (Note this event is not open to the public.)

This event continues the Memphis Grizzlies Season of Giving, which includes Grizzlies players, coaches, family members and staff teaming with community partners to make a difference in the lives of children and families by hosting several charitable events throughout November and December.

In addition to the coat distribution, Allen will speak and give his testimony to the group of youth about reaching his goal of playing in the NBA despite facing adversity.

Knowledge Quest, a non-profit organization that serves the South Memphis community, is an agency that builds stronger communities by developing inner-city youth. This area makes up some of the City of Memphis’ highest rates in poverty, school drop-out, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy, coupled with the gang activity and youth violence.
