Grizzlies come up short against Wizards

The Washington Wizards snapped a nine-game road losing streak in the overall series with Memphis and won at FedExForum for the first time since November 2004 in tonight's 92-83 battle.

Memphis' loss comes on the end of their first home back-to-back series since February 2012. With tonight's loss, the Grizzlies fell to 11-8 this season when playing on zero days of rest.

Marc Gasol led the Grizzlies, recording his 19th double-double of the season, with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Mike Conley contributed 14 points and was the only other Grizzlies player to score in double figures. Jeff Green scored nine points before departing the game in the third quarter with back spasms, ending a nine-game streak scoring in double digits.

A key component to tonight's game, Washington outscored Memphis 26-5 on fast break points, including a 19-1 edge through the first three quarters. The Grizzlies did not score their first fast break basket until 1:24 left in the fourth quarter. Memphis also shot just 1-of-15 from three-point range, its lowest three-point shooting percentage at home this season and second-lowest percentage of the season.

John Wall led the Wizards with 18 points, six rebounds and 14 assists, his 39th double-double of the season. Bradley Beal contributed 20 points on 10-of-21 shooting, his 11th game with 20 points or more.

The Grizzlies will tip off again on Wednesday, April 8 against the New Orleans Pelicans for the last of their home games during Hoops for St. Jude Week.
