Grizzlies announce fan activities for 2012 Playoffs

MEMPHIS, April 28, 2012 – As the Memphis Grizzlies prepare to host a playoff series for the first time in franchise history, the team announced a variety of fan activities for all home games of the First Round of the 2012 Grizzlies’ Playoffs, presented by First Tennessee and Memphis Toyota Dealers. Game 1 is scheduled to tip-off at FedExForum on Sunday, April 29 at 8:30 p.m. followed by Game 2 on Wednesday, May 2 also set to tip-off at 8:30 p.m.

The 2012 Playoff Plaza Party, presented by Southland Park Gaming and Racing, will commence on Sunday for Game 1. All Plaza Parties will start two hours prior to tip-off, and will feature live music on the Plaza Stage, presented by Taco Bell. Other highlights include: inflatables, face painters, balloon artists, official Grizzlies merchandise, food and beverage, Sonic Drive-Ins sign-making stations and an interactive video game trailer. C Spire Wireless, City Gear and Southwest Tennessee Community College will also be on hand with special giveaway items while Grizz, the Grizz Girls and McDonald’s Claw Crew will make appearances at the event. Following each home playoff game will be the official after-party at Bleu Restaurant and Lounge, located across the street from FedExForum, where the Grizz Girls will be giving away playoff tickets to the next game.

All fans attending the Grizzlies’ first Playoff Home Game will receive a Gold Playoff Growl Towel sponsored by First Tennessee Bank and Memphis Toyota Dealers plus a Grizzlies Believe Memphis white T-shirt sponsored by FedEx. T-shirts for home Game 2 are sponsored by Sonic Drive-Ins and MidSouth Chevy Dealers.

Fans are encouraged to arrive to FedExForum earlier than normal for all playoff games. Due to the enhanced security measures that have been put in place, doors will open 90 minutes prior to tip-off for all Memphis Grizzlies home postseason contests. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the festivities and allow them to get to their seats and enjoy the most positive game-watching experience possible. 

Fans that are on time for Game 1 will be treated to playoff good luck charm Ellen, an 8-year-old St. Jude patient who will again perform the national anthem. In-game entertainment will feature fan-favorite performance teams of Grizzlies Grannies & Grandpas, Kings of the Court presented by NST Law, and more on Sunday evening.

Coming off six straight home playoff game sellouts fans are encouraged to guarantee their playoff tickets by purchasing 2012-13 Season Tickets.
