Grizzlies to team up with Memphis Zoo and New Belgium Brewing for Fourth Annual Tour de Grizz

Memphis, March 7, 2012 – In conjunction with NBA Green Week, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Memphis Zoo and New Belgium Brewing are encouraging Grizz fans to tour the city by bike and take part in the Fourth Annual Tour de Grizz on Saturday, April 7 before the Grizzlies tip-off against the Dallas Mavericks at 7 p.m. 

Participants in the Fourth Annual Tour de Grizz will receive general admission tickets to see the Grizzly bears at the Teton Trek exhibit at the Memphis Zoo and then hop on their bikes for a five-mile ride from the zoo to FedExForum to see the city’s other Grizzlies take the court. Riders in the Fourth Annual Tour de Grizz will depart from Memphis Zoo at 5:30 p.m. and will be accompanied by Memphis Police escorts to ensure the safety of the participants as they make the trip to and from FedExForum. Once the riders have reached their basketball destination, they will be assured of “Bike Valet Parking,” which is also available at the zoo prior to departure. Following the contest between the Grizzlies and the Mavericks, riders will leave FedExForum 15 minutes after the final buzzer and return to the zoo.

Packages start at $25 and include a terrace level ticket to that night’s game, admission to the Memphis Zoo the entire day of April 7 and a Tour de Grizz souvenir item to commemorate the event. Packages may also be purchased for $55 and include a First Tennessee Club level ticket to the game, zoo admission and souvenir item. Spaces are available for individuals by calling (901) 205-1460. Event Day Registration will be available on a limited basis starting at 1 p.m. at the zoo. 

All participants are required to provide their own bike and safety equipment, including a helmet and lights. The Fourth Annual Tour de Grizz will take place rain or shine. Fans who have already purchased a ticket for the April 7 game against the Mavericks are also invited to join the ride by calling (901) 205-1460 or by going to grizzlies.com.

All fans age 21 and over who participate in the Tour de Grizz this year will have the opportunity to win a commemorative New Belgium Brewing Cruiser Bike.

Whether they arrive by bike or not, fans can expect an exciting and educational evening of entertainment at the Grizzlies Fourth Annual “Grizzlies Go Green” Game presented by International Paper which will feature a special “Seed Packet” Giveaway for the first 5,000 fans and a special “Grizzlies Go Green Expo,” both presented by Keep Tennessee Beautiful.  For full listing of events and ticket information call (901) 888-HOOP.
