Is it possible to “over-exercise”?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:26 Justin in Gtwn
12:27
Memphis Grizzlies:
Absolutely possible and very easy to over exercise. Constant training can cause a breakdown and that is where you can have injuries.
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:27 Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis Grizzlies:
In this case more is not necessarily better.

What is a good cardio workout for someone that only has 30min or less to get a workout in? Is that amount of time even beneficial for a workout or do you need longer to really be effective?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:28 PhilGrizz77
12:30
Memphis Grizzlies:
Depending on their level of conditioning sprint intervals with a 1 to 1 work ration with a goal of a 3 to 1 work ratio. 3-5 min walk to warm up and jog for about 20 min and then move back to a 3-5 min cool down. Your speed should and then decrease your rest interval.

If you have a cold, is it better to try and “sweat” it out with a workout, or to rest?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:31 Justin in Gtwn
12:32
Memphis Grizzlies:
This is a question for how each individual deals with sickness. You need to rest and hydrate and ease back into working out. Some people just need to sweat it out and the it is just up the individual and it depends on the severity of the illness.

What would you recommend as a good pre-workout snack that won’t cause stomach cramps?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:32 MayoFan
12:35
Memphis Grizzlies:
Something real easy like whole wheat toast with some peanut butter maybe with orange juice. this provides some good protein. You want the carbohydrates and protein to be the same. Some of the drinks that are protein shakes may upset the stomach, and cause g.i. issues.

Really both. You find a hapy medium in between, but really it is both. Reading labels is important..there are good fats and bad fats. Educate yourself on what is in the food.

What are the benefits of protein shakes?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:37 Grizzfan4life
12:39
Memphis Grizzlies:
Post exercise it is important to have something higher in protein, so you want you body to do that. It is easier for the body to break down something like a protein shake. It is best to consume this within 30 mins of post exercise.

What causes arthritis in joints?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:42 afanfor10yrs
12:44
Memphis Grizzlies:
There is over activity and stress that is put on a joint. The body's reaction is to send blood there to help heal that joints ,so if the joint is constantly being aggravated it becomes arthritic.

Systolic is the top number which is also the higher number and that basically measures when the heart muscle contracts. Diastolic is the bottom number or the lower number and that measures the pressure in the arteries between beats.

I have severe pain in my right wrist from arthritis. How can I still manage to lift weights and build muscle when I can’t lift the weights?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:52 GrizzGrandma22
12:55
Memphis Grizzlies:
I tend to shy away from injury questions because there are so many variables that you need to see your health care professional. It is important to control the pain in your wrist, but you can obviously do any type of leg exercise. If holding dumbbells aggravates you may want to use wrist straps.

I would like to lose 20 pounds. Where should I start?
Tuesday October 19, 2010 12:55 Justin in Gtwn
12:57
Memphis Grizzlies:
I would first start out with a 7 day diet plan and write down everything you are eating and be as accurate as possible about how much you are eating. And start a basic cardio routine either walking inside or outside. 30 mins - 3 to 4 times a week.
