Tarence Kinsey Named Western Conference Rookie Of The Month

Memphis, Tennessee – The NBA announced today that Memphis Grizzlies guard Tarence Kinsey was named the NBA’s Western Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month for games played in April.

Kinsey, an undrafted free agent, averaged 18.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.63 steals in eight starts for the Grizzlies in April. He scored 20 or more points in four of the team’s eight games in April, finishing the month shooting 47.7% from the field and 82.7% from the free throw line.

He ended the season posting three or more steals on four occasions in April, including tying a franchise rookie record with a career-high five steals on April 3 vs. Phoenix. Kinsey also posted a pair of career-high 28-point performances in the month (April 6 vs. Golden State, April 14 vs. Denver) and was the only rookie on the team to start all eight games of the month. He also helped lead the team to a season-best three straight victories, ending the season with career-highs in assists (seven) and rebounds (nine) in last night’s win at Minnesota.
