Grizzlies sign first round pick DeMarre Carroll

MEMPHIS, July 26, 2009 - The Memphis Grizzlies signed DeMarre Carroll to a multi-year contract, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Selected by the Grizzlies with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft, Carroll recently averaged 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.20 steals on 58.5 percent shooting in 26.8 minutes in the 2009 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, helping lead Memphis to a perfect 5-0 record.

The 6-8, 212-pound forward led the University of Missouri in scoring (16.6 points) and rebounding (7.2) in his senior season, leading the Tigers to their first Big 12 Tournament title in 16 years and a trip to the 2009 NCAA Elite Eight.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Carroll also earned First Team All-Big 12, First Team All-District, All-America Honorable Mention, Big 12 Tournament MVP and NCAA All-West Region honors in 2008-09.
