Grizzlies announce largest ever television schedule for 2010-11

MEMPHIS, October 8, 2010 – The Grizzlies announced today that 73 regular-season Grizzlies’ games will be televised on SportSouth during the 2010-11 NBA season. This marks the largest number of regional telecasts in team history, the first time that the complete schedule will be televised on SportSouth, and the first time that all games will be available in high definition (HD). As previously announced, there are also six Grizzlies games scheduled for national television, the most since the 2005-06 campaign.

When the team is away from FedExForum, fans will again be able to follow them every step of the way, as all 41 regular-season road contests will be televised. The Grizzlies hit the road early, with five of their first seven contests on the road, including a Tuesday, Nov. 2 date against Kobe Bryant and the NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Play-by-play broadcaster Pete Pranica will return for his fifth season as the television voice of the Grizzlies and will again be joined by analyst Sean Tuohy, who will split time this season with former Grizzlies point guard Brevin Knight as the team’s color commentator. Rob Fischer is entering his fourth season as sideline reporter for all Grizzlies’ broadcasts.

SportSouth will continue to provide expanded pre-game coverage on Grizzlies LIVE, presented by Chuck Hutton Toyota. Hosted on location, Grizzlies LIVE, will give viewers a complete pre-game breakdown including interviews, analysis and special features for all 73 game telecasts.

“The Grizzlies’ 10th season in Memphis not only marks a significant milestone for the organization, but also our broadcast efforts,” said Grizzlies Senior Vice President of Broadcast Randy Stephens. “With a consistent home on SportSouth and all 73 games in HD, we will give our fans the most convenient and highest quality viewing experience we’ve ever offered.”

In addition to the 73-game slate set to air on SportSouth, the Grizzlies will be found on ESPN’s national broadcast of the Jan. 17 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration Game against the Chicago Bulls and the April 13 contest against the Los Angeles Clippers. They will be on ESPN2 against the Golden State Warriors on Nov. 26 and on NBA-TV three times, including a March 9 contest against the New York Knicks.
