Festivities and new FedExForum features announced for 2014 Grizzlies Home Opener

The Memphis Grizzlies will host the Detroit Pistons in their 2013-14 regular season home opener on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m, and are giving fans an opportunity to come out and celebrate the return of Grizzlies basketball in the Bluff City before tip-off. Opening Night is presented by First Tennessee Bank.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the Opening Night Party on the Plaza from 5-7 p.m. The festivities include face painting, balloon artists and music as well as appearances by the Memphis Grizzline, Grizz and the Grizz Girls.

Grizzlies fans on the plaza can pay a visit to the interactive Coors Light Airstream RV, then stop by the Grizz Den Trailer to stock up on new gear for the upcoming season. As a part of the festivities, the ‘Grizzlies Live’ pregame TV show, presented by Chuck Hutton Toyota, featuring Pete Pranica, Sean Tuohy, Rob Fischer and the newest member of the Grizzlies TV crew Chris Vernon will air live from the plaza starting at 6:30 p.m.

All fans in attendance at the game will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of First Tennessee Bank. Inside the arena, Opening Night goers will be treated to a performance from Epic Records recording artist Future during pregame introductions as well as performances by Garry Goin and the Memphis Grizzlies House Band and the Memphis Grizzline. Additional entertainment will also be provided by Grizzlies fan favorites the Grizzlies Grannies and Grandpas, the Kings of the Court, the Grizz Girls and Grizz. There will be a halftime performance by world renowned dancer and native Memphian Lil Buck, who specializes in a form of dance known as Jookin’, featuring music from the Memphis Symphony. Fans can also look forward to new music and a special guest appearance from Hip-Hop producer and native Memphian Drumma Boy.

FedExForum also has several exciting new features that will be seen for the first time on Opening Night. The renovated Grizz Den Team Store is open in its new location in the FedExForum Grand Lobby, and fans can also make personalized Grizzlies jerseys at the new custom jersey station located in the concourse at Section 109. FedExForum also will introduce an all-new ANC Digital scorer’s table on the arena floor complete with digital stanchion signage for a great new and modern look.

With new security measures in place that require handwand searches, Grizzlies fans are encouraged to get to the game early to prevent any delays entering the arena.
