Grizz and Mayor Wharton to attend Bike to Work Day Rally

MEMPHIS, Tennessee— Grizzlies Team Mascot Grizz will escort Mayor AC Wharton by bike from City Hall down Main Street to Court Square for the National Bike to Work Day Rally at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21.

In addition to the accompanying Mayor Wharton down the famous Memphis trolley line on Main Street, Grizz will also serve as bike security at the Bike to Work Day Rally that all of Memphis is invited to attend. Grizz and Mayor Wharton first realized their mutual admiration for cyclists and the positive impact that riding a bike can have for fitness and the environment during this year’s Tour De Grizz Tip-Off event.

The Bike to Work Day Rally is the culmination of an entire week of events hosted by the Center City Commission that aim to educate the public about cycling as a valid alternative mode of transportation that improves individual health and the environment. The Bike to Work Day Rally will include an address from Mayor Wharton to the cycling community, live music, free bike valet parking, the opportunity to talk with City of Memphis staff about local cycling ordinances and check out the latest accessories from local bike shops.
