Key Stat of the Night

  • After shooting 13-of-21 in the first quarter, their best shooting percentage (.619) for any opening quarter this season, the Grizzlies were held to 22-of-69 shooting (.319) for the final three quarters.

  • After Memphis pulled within two (75-73) with 10:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, Philadelphia went on a 13-0 run to take its largest lead of the game (88-73) with 7:51 left… The Grizzlies would cut the lead to single digits thanks to Zach Randolph’s three-point play, but Dorell Wright hit a three-pointer with 3:16 remaining (84-95) to end the Grizzlies’ rally.

Player Notes

  • Marc Gasol contributed on 10 of the team’s 13 baskets in the first quarter, scoring 12 points (6-of-8 FG) and recording four assists.
  • In his first start of the season, Quincy Pondexter finished with 13 points and five rebounds.

Zach Randolph led the way with 23 points but it wasn’t enough as the Grizzlies fell to the visiting Philadelphia 76ers 99-89 on Wednesday. Marc Gasol added 18 points along with 13 from Quincy Pondexter.

  • Memphis fell to 9-2 against Eastern Conference opponents this season and 24-5 since the start of the 2011-12 campaign.
  • The Sixers snapped a three-game losing streak against the Grizzlies and a four-game losing streak against Western Conference foes.
  • Embarking on a seven-game Western Conference road trip, Philadelphia won its first road game in the month of December (1-6)… The Sixers won on the road of the first time since Nov. 30 at Charlotte.
  • Philadelphia outscored Memphis 16-2 in fastbreak points after Houston recorded an opponent-high 33 fastbreak points on Dec. 22 while holding the Grizzlies to just three.
  • The Sixers recorded a season-high and a Grizzlies opponent-high 12 blocked shots tonight, including five swats by Spencer Hawes and four blocks by Thaddeus Young.
  • Philadelphia made two more field goals than Memphis (37-35) despite attempting 19 more shots (90-71).
