- Rudy Gay helped Memphis rally in the third quarter, making a 3-pointer to trim the Clippers' lead to 61-51 but that was as close as the Grizzlies got.
Turning Point
The Grizzlies pulled to within 10 points midway through the third quarter, but the Clippers went on a 14-2 to extend their lead to 22 points with just over three minutes remaining.
Player Notes
- Marc Gasol, who averages 15.9 points a game, went 3-for-12 with three turnovers.
- Rudy Gay averages 19 points a game, but has scored only 10 and 11 in the last two for the Grizz.
Zach Randolph scored 14 points and O.J. Mayo added 13 but the Grizzlies stopped by the Clippers 101-85 in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon. Rudy Gay and Tony Allen both finished with 11 points apiece.

“Every game and stretch is important. If we play in a stretch without the heavy hitters, we want to win those games. So the goal doesn’t change. We just have to scratch and claw to get some wins. The West is really tough, one day we’re in third and the next we’re in sixth.”

“It’s very disturbing because we don’t have a rhythm. We need to get back to a rhythm. We’ll see what happens tomorrow, but we can’t come out and score 17 points in the first quarter. When we make a substitution at the end of the quarter, we’re down 26 points. We have to do a better job with our bench play and with our starters. Everybody needs to do a better job of guarding their own man.”
