The previously announced security measures at FedExForum will still be standard operating procedure for all games hosted at FedExForum during the 2016 Grizzlies Playoffs presented by your Memphis-area Toyota Dealers. In addition, to accommodate the expected crowds that attend the pregame Plaza Parties, the entire FedExForum outdoor plaza will be barricaded, and patrons that enter through the plaza will have to be hand-wanded before gaining entry to the Plaza Party.
Hand-wanding to enter the outdoor plaza will be cut off 15 minutes before tip-off for both Game 3 and Game 4. Game 3 is slated for 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 22 and Game 4 is on Sunday, April 24 at 12 p.m. After the cutoff period, FedExForum patrons will enter through the magnetometers, per standard operating procedure, without having to be hand-wanded.
“The Playoffs bring an abundance of fun, entertainment and fans to our outdoor plaza during the pregame Plaza Parties,” said Eric Granger, vice president of arena operations at FedExForum. “The pregame Plaza Parties have become a fan destination and event on their own, thus creating the need to contain entry and crowds in order to deliver the safest experience at one of the NBA’s top Playoff destinations.”
Grizzlies Playoff Plaza Parties, presented by Southland Park Gaming and Racing, will begin two hours prior to tip-off for all home games and will feature live music and a kid’s zone with face painters, balloon artists and more. Additionally, all doors for Games 3, presented by Toyota, and Game 4, presented by Tennessee Lottery, will open two hours prior to tip-off for MVPs and to the general public 90 minutes before tip.
Fans are urged to arrive early to FedExForum on event nights as standard security measures will be in place for all FedExForum events, including concerts and live shows.
