Memphis Grizzlies announce partnership with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee

The Memphis Grizzlies and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee have entered into a collaborative partnership, making BlueCross the official health insurance carrier of the Memphis Grizzlies and an executive partner in several Grizzlies health and wellness initiatives, the team announced today.

The partnership is founded upon the shared goal of promoting health and wellness throughout the Memphis area. Together, the Grizzlies and BlueCross are committed to building strong and measurable adult- and youth-based fitness initiatives helping to ensure that all Memphians have access to healthy choices. BlueCross will participate in the soon-to-debut Grizzlies Riverfront Fitness Trail and Pop-Up Park (RiverFit) which is aligned to the mission of BlueCross’ Shape the State Program. The program, founded by the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation, awards grants focused on high-impact initiatives led by civic and economic partners to promote healthy lifestyle choices across the state. This, in turn, helps control health care costs for all Tennessee residents.

“We are thrilled to enter into a meaningful partnership with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee for this upcoming season,” said President of Business Operations Jason Wexler. “We share the common goal of promoting health and wellness for all of Grizz Nation. This relationship is a natural fit that will allow us to jointly explore opportunities to cultivate healthier lifestyles in the broader Memphis community, starting with the Grizzlies Riverfront Fitness Trail and Pop-Up Park.”

”We’re very excited about this new partnership and appreciate the Grizzlies entrusting us with their health care coverage needs,” said Calvin Anderson, senior vice president for BlueCross. “The team has got some really exciting things going on that will positively impact the health of many people, especially school-aged youth. That syncs directly with our mission and was a relationship we enthusiastically embraced.”
