Memphis Grizzlies continue Round Town Tour with a packed schedule of events and appearances for October

The Memphis Grizzlies will continue to build anticipation for the 2014-15 season with a packed schedule of events for the October edition of the 2014 Round Town Tour. The tour will host events throughout Memphis, as well as promote the Grizzlies brand of excitement into the surrounding areas of Jonesboro, Ark., Tupelo, Miss., and Oxford, Miss. through the continuation of the 2014 Regional Caravan.

Pop-Up Parties are back this season, with chances for Grizzlies faithful to mingle with the team’s personalities. Returning players Beno Udrih, Nick Calathes and rookie Jordan Adams will be at the first Pop-Up Party in Horn Lake (Desoto Crossing 7251 Interstate Blvd; 38637) on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 5 – 7 p.m. Fans in attendance will be able to get autographs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and enjoy free Jet’s Pizza and Pepsi products, along with Grizzlies inflatables, balloon artists, face painters and a DJ. The next Pop-Up Party will be on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 12 – 2 p.m. at the Lester Community Center in Binghampton (317 Tillman Street; 38112). Fans will be able to get a first-look at a community service project and basketball court refurbishments completed by several Grizzlies players and volunteers as well as enjoy food and festivities.

Earlier on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., several Grizzlies players will participate in “Memphis Cares Day” by getting hands-on in a day-long community service project at Lester Community Center. Projects include refurbishing four basketball courts, landscaping, an art mural, and interior renovations - highlighted by a reading room and computer lab for children. The service project is closed to the public.

The 2014 Regional Caravan Tour will continue with three more stops in Arkansas and Mississippi. First on the agenda is a stop in Tupelo, Miss. for the annual Tupelo Chili Fest. The Grizzlies will enter the all-day competition in an attempt to win “Crowd Favorite.” If their goal is reached, Mississippi residents with “Tupelo, MS” on their driver’s licenses will be granted free admission to the Grizzlies vs. Atlanta Hawks preseason-opener on Saturday, Oct.11 at FedExForum. Other stops include the Oxford City Market in Oxford, Miss (Oct. 14) and “Alive After Five” in Jonesboro, Ark. (Oct. 16). A complete calendar listing is below.

The 13th Annual Tip-Off Luncheon, presented by First Tennessee Bank, will also include the entire team of players and coaches and will highlight the return of basketball to the Bluff City. Grizzlies fans in attendance will be able to experience one-of-a-kind interactions with players and coaches before they take the court on Oct. 29 to match up against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2014-15 season-opener at FedExForum. All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Registration forms are available at grizzlies.com.
