As one of the most socially conscious teams in all of sports, the Memphis Grizzlies added to their charitable repertoire with the inaugural Lady Bears event at the Salvation Army Purdue Center of Hope.
The Lady Bears are comprised of women who play a significant role in the lives of Grizzlies players, coaches and basketball operations staff led by Debby Wallace, wife of Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace, and Angie Hollins, wife of Grizzlies Head Coach Lionel Hollins. Their goal is to work with the Grizzlies community investment and basketball operations departments to support community outreach initiatives throughout the Mid-South community.
The Lady Bears first venture into the community took them to the Salvation Army Purdue Center of Hope, where they spread holiday cheer to a large group of women and children by serving Thanksgiving dinners to the families and then distributing hats, gloves and backpacks to the children at the shelter.

While the Lady Bears anticipate doing much of their work in the community while the team is on the road, they got a helping hand from Lionel Hollins, Grizzlies center Marc Gasol and assistant coach Damon Stoudamire at their first event that set the stage for future successful efforts in the community by the Lady Bears.
