Get Fit as a Pro at This Week's Games

Health and wellness is one of the pillars of the Cavaliers community outreach efforts and as such, each year the team reaches thousands of kids across Northeast Ohio through the “Fit as a Pro” program, presented by Medical Mutual and in association with Giant Eagle. The program encourages students to live a healthy lifestyle and this week Cavs fans of all ages will be able to benefit from the wellbeing initiative when the Cavs host Fit as a Pro Nights at the home games on Thursday, January 19th and Saturday, January 21st as part of the annual NBA Fit Week.

At Thursday’s game, the “Fit Dance Zone” outside section 108/109 on the main concourse is the place to be. All kids in attendance are invited there to join 30 lucky students from Northeast Ohio who are registered participants of the Fit as a Pro program, to participate in a 30-minute dance clinic with the Scream Team. Members of the Cavs hip-hop dance squad will then invite fans of all ages to join them in fun line dance routines. Throughout the game, fans can show off their fitness level by practicing different exercises led by the Q Spirit Squad. And everyone will want to return to the Fit Dance Zone at halftime to watch a kickboxing class led by instructors from Tremont Athletic Club. Plus, while in their seats fans young and old will want to keep an eye out for the “Flex Cam” to show off their muscles on Humongotron. In addition, fans will enjoy the on-court “uniform race” during a timeout, presented by Medical Mutual and in association with Giant Eagle.

Saturday’s game will provide another fun, interactive opportunity for all kids in attendance to get Fit as a Pro. Beginning when doors open at 7:00 p.m. through halftime, young Cavs fans can join the Cavs Academy Youth Basketball program to participate in basketball skills and fitness elements outside section 108/109 on the concourse. Fans will also want to stop by the Social Zone outside section 123/124 for the chance to win cool fitness related prizes throughout the night.

At both games, various local fitness groups will have information tables throughout the concourse, including YMCA, The Q Community Fun Run, Empowering Punch and more.

The Cavs tipped off this year’s NBA Fit Week on Wednesday by surprising the students of Admiral King Elementary School in Lorain with a “gym class takeover.” Members of the Cavalier Girls, Scream Team and Q Fit Squad and Moondog joined Ahmaad and Olivier to speak to the kids about healthy living, and got students and teachers up and moving in a dance-off. Fans at both games this week will be able to watch video highlights from the Fit as a Pro festivities on Humongotron.

Fans not able to attend the games can keep up with the Fit as a Pro activity both nights by following @cavs on social media for photos and video from The Q.
