Six area high school basketball teams will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of competing on a professional NBA court in front of a cheering crowd of family, friends and fans when the Cleveland Cavaliers host the 2nd Annual High School Hoops Showcase on Sunday, December 2nd at Quicken Loans Arena.
Tipping off at 1:00 p.m. and continuing throughout the day, high school athletes from Northeast Ohio will feel the pride of seeing their name in lights and the adrenaline rush of sprinting up and down the Cavs home court. Additionally, teams will receive all-star treatment with access to Quicken Loans Arena locker rooms, the use of the public address system and tickets to an upcoming Cavs game.
The action will feature three (3) varsity and two (2) JV matchups. Games are scheduled as follows:
Normandy Invaders vs. Medina Bees (Girls)
JV: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Varsity: 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Chardon Hilltoppers vs. West Geauga Wolverines (Boys)
JV: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Varsity: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
North Royalton Bears vs. Strongsville Mustangs (Boys)
Varsity: 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
“Chardon High School was fortunate to participate in the High School Hoops Showcase last year, and it was a tremendous experience for our student athletes, coaches and fans,” said Chardon High School Athletic Director Doug Snyder. “The opportunity to play in a first-class, NBA facility is one we all look forward to and we appreciate the tremendous hospitality demonstrated by the Cavs front office and game day personnel.”
Tickets for the Cavaliers High School Hoops Showcase start at $20 and include admission to all five (5) games and a voucher for a select 2012-13 Cavs game (seats subject to availability for a mutually agreed-upon date). Fans can get their tickets for the High School Hoops Showcase through any of the participating schools’ athletic departments.
The Cavs will host another High School Hoops Showcase at The Q on Sunday, December 23rd and are inviting local high school teams to take part in this great opportunity! Limited spots are available, so schools are encouraged to contact a High School Hoops Showcase representative:
