Training Like the Pros

One Cleveland-area eighth grade class found out first-hand on Tuesday what the pros go through on a daily basis. Thirty students from Entrepreneurship Preparatory School participated in a mini “training camp” on Tuesday, led by Cavs players Matthew Dellavedova and Tristan Thompson. Team Performance Specialist Derek Millender, Assistant Coach Brett Brielmaier and Player Development Coach Mike Gerrity were also on hand to take the kids through five stations at Cleveland Clinic Courts as part of the Cavs “Fit as a Pro” program, presented by Medical Mutual and Giant Eagle, in association with Musselman’s Applesauce.

The eighth graders had the opportunity to learn about many of the elements that go into being a professional basketball player, both on and off the court. They were able to try their hand at stretching, on-court drills and workouts, as well as watched film and learned about the importance of good nutrition. Tuesday’s event compliments the Fit as a Pro monthly wellness challenge that the class has been doing on their own.
