Cavs Unveil 2016 NBA Championship Banner at WGU Members Meeting

The Cleveland Cavaliers unveiled the 2016 NBA Championship banner to members of Wine & Gold United (WGU) on Sunday evening. The official club of season ticket holders were given an exclusive first preview to see the team’s first-ever championship banner before it is raised to the rafters of Quicken Loans Arena on Opening Night.

The private unveiling took place at the annual WGU members meeting at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

The Cavs presentation of championship rings and banner raising will take place at the Opening Night Championship Celebration presented by Kenda Tires in a pregame ceremony prior to the team’s 2016-17 season opener vs. the New York Knicks on Tuesday, October 25th at 8:00 p.m.

The banner commemorates the Cavaliers first NBA Championship in franchise history and the first major championship in 52 years for the city of Cleveland.

Cavs 2016 NBA Championship Banner Features:

Designed by the Cavs, the solid wine banner with white and bright gold accents features the Cavs “C” Championship logo.

  • The banner is 100” wide by 164” tall.
  • As a nod to WGU - the CORE of “All for One.
