Game Summary

The Cavaliers will open up the 2016 NBA Playoffs against Central Division rivals the Detroit Pistons on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff from The Q is at 3:00 p.m. ET.

The Wine and Gold enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed for the 3rd time in franchise history (2008-09, 2009-10) after posting a 57-25 overall record in 2015-16.

This will be the 20th playoff appearance for Cleveland, who is 84-84 all-time in the postseason, including 54-30 (.643) at home. Since 2006, the Cavs are 33-12 during the playoffs at The Q.

his is Detroit’s first playoff appearance since the 2008-09 season.

Both squads enter the playoffs having made their mark from beyond the arc during the regular season.

Cleveland made at least 10 three-pointers on 51 occasions this past season, including 15 triples or more 11 times. The Cavs finished with a franchise-record 880 three-pointers in 2015-16 (2nd-most in NBA), which were also the 5th-most triples for a single season in NBA history.

The Pistons sank a franchise-record 740 three-pointers in 2015-16, topping last season's 703 and blowing away the franchise's pre-Van Gundy mark of 582 from way back in 1996-97. Detroit was 19-6 in games when it made 11 or more triples.

Detroit is 34-11 when scoring 100-plus points and 33-10 when shooting 33 percent or better from beyond the arc.

The Cavs were 45-9 this past season when scoring 100 points or more. On the season, Cleveland averaged 104.3 points per game, which ranked 8th in the NBA. On the other end of the floor, the Cavs allowed the 4th-lowest scoring average in the league at 98.3 points.
