Special Cavs TV Update

CLEVELAND, OH - November 24, 2010 - SPECIAL FOX SPORTS OHIO TV UPDATE for Cavs fans watching Friday’s game in Orlando vs. the Magic: While you can never get too much of a great thing like FS Ohio Cavs game broadcasts in High Definition (“HD”), we are very sorry to say that, due to some highly complex and very rare broadcast system limitations, Friday night’s game vs. the Magic will be available ONLY in Full Screen Standard Definition (“SD” and that’s a full-screen 9x16 aspect ratio for all the techies out there). That’s the (sort of) bad news. The good news is that Cavaliers regular season games this season are broadcast in HD 78 out of 82 games! That is one of the highest totals in the NBA. That also means the only two other games broadcast in full screen standard definition will be the Cavaliers home games vs. Phoenix on January 19th and vs. Charlotte on April 5th.

So, while you can still enjoy watching your Cavaliers in these exciting match-ups with Fred McLeod’s play-by-play call (and colorful necktie selections) and Austin Carr’s color commentary from “deep in The Q” and Florida respectively, you’ll be doing it in Full-Screen SD, instead of HD. Each game in Full-Screen SD will be shown on your regular FS Ohio Standard Definition channel, with the exception of the Columbus area. click here to review your channel information for the Columbus area. (Please note, the FOX SPORTS OHIO channel finder page is best viewed in Firefox or Google Chrome.)

If you watch Cavaliers games on the NBA’s League Pass because you are out of the area and just can’t get FS Ohio, please know that we’ll make every effort to have those games broadcast in HD as well by the respective cable systems involved. Ultimately, that decision is made by those system operators, not FS Ohio, the Cavaliers or the NBA. In other words, we can't guarantee or control how many games are shown in HD around the country on each respective cable system’s own NBA League Pass channel.

We hope this information helps you. Thanks for tuning in for Cavaliers games and for your great support all season long!
