Cavaliers Hit The Bullseye This Holiday Season for Local Families

CLEVELAND, OH - December 23, 2011 - Just before the hustle and bustle of last-minute holiday gift hunting gets underway, Cleveland Cavaliers players surprised local families in a BIG way. On December 21st, as part of the NBA Cares Home for the Holidays initiative and the annual Cavaliers Season of Giving, Cavs forward Antawn Jamison, guard Daniel Gibson and forward Luke Harangody each sponsored holiday shopping sprees at three Target locations throughout the community.

The players surprised families of the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center, B.R.I.C.K. program and the New Life Community with $15,700 worth of fully-loaded gift cards for them to use this holiday season! After a moment of shock and disbelief, the families took to the aisles in search of the perfect holiday gifts.

Eighteen families of New Life Community each received a gift cards courtesy of Daniel Gibson. Sporting a permanent grin, Gibson and his wife, R&B singer Keyshia Cole, helped the families pick out gifts sure to warm the hearts of their loved ones.

On the other side of town, and to Jamison’s surprise, the young men of Cleveland’s B.R.I.C.K. program were also in the giving spirit. Each boy received a gift cards for their use, but instead decided to focus a significant amount of their purchase on books and toys to donate to local children in need.

And right in the middle of the two other Target locations, Luke Harangody helped 18 families from the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center shop for all their holiday needs.

Following all the excitement of the surprise shopping blitz, the families enjoyed cookies and refreshments provided by Target.
