Game Quotes: Cavaliers vs. Heat

(On the game tonight): "Over the last three days, we've played two of the better teams in this league and didn't play as well as we're capable of playing. I think with both those teams, you have to give a lot of credit…Just like I told our guys, it's a process. We are going to keep on working, fight and stay positive. It's still very, very early in the season so we still have a long way to go."
(On what disappointed him the most tonight): "There were a few things. I thought when they got their little run going, we didn't stick to the things that we talked about doing. Our principles kind of broke down. I thought offensively, the one thing that I feared at the beginning of the game was going too fast and turning the ball over and things like that, and that's exactly what we did. We just have to understand that when you're playing in games like this, you just have to relax. You have to think about one end of the floor first and that's the defensive end. I thought we started off ok and then once they got it going a little bit, then we started having our breakdowns on the defensive end. We just have to stay positive with what we're doing and really just stay focused and keep doing it. I thought we lost some of our focus when we started doing things that we don't normally do and it started costing us baskets."
(On LeBron James tonight): "I thought he played great. Simple as that. I thought he played great."
(On his feeling about the game): "Disappointed, because I know we can play better. I really do. I've seen us play much better than we played tonight, and I know we can play a lot better than we played tonight…I've seen them do it, so it's just a matter of us continuing to work on it, staying together as a basketball team, keeping the faith in one another, trusting each other and we're going to be fine."
(On how it feels to play like this in a game like this): "We have got a young team so it doesn't hurt me. This is a learning process for our guys. A lot of guys that we have in our locker room haven't been on a stage this big. We're still learning each other. They're still learning me. I'm still learning them. Like I said, from this game I think we'll grow and we'll learn a lot more about each other and that's how I'm kind of taking it."

(On where they go from here after the loss): "We've got to see what we did wrong. We have to watch the film and see the way that we have to make adjustments and go from there. It's just another game we lost. We didn't play good at all, we lost by a lot, but it's the same issue if we would've lost by one. We have got to move on and think about the next game."
(On if it was a lack of intensity or lack of execution): "I think it was a little bit of everything. We didn't move the ball well on offense and we didn't do a good job on defense either. Against teams like that if you do that, they are going to take advantage. That's (what) they did and that's why we lost."
(On if they are embarrassed or disappointed): "When you give 100 percent every night, you don't feel embarrassed at all. You know you did your best and you know you tried everything. I believe we did tonight and we have got to move on and think about the next game."

(On if the team came out with a lack of intensity): "I think we didn't start bad. It was very comfortable for them. They were comfortable all night: went where they wanted to go, shot the shots they wanted to shoot and they played well. They were clicking on all cylinders on both ends, but we certainly didn't put on any pressure or make them uncomfortable in any way."
(On the crowd tonight): "It was what we expected. I think it was good that they didn't go overboard in terms of disrupting the game in any way. They certainly let their feelings be known (and) that's what we expected. For us as players, it's a great atmosphere and that's what hurts so much - the fans showed up for us like that and we let them down."

HEAT HEAD COACH ERIK SPOELSTRA

(On tonight's game): "This is the first time we've really seen this connection all year long. Hopefully it's something we can build on. I am proud of that collective effort."
(On the team's support of LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas): "I can't say that I sensed this coming. We've had an adverse week. The world was ready to come down on Heat Nation and now we have been able to put together three nice wins. Obviously you are happy for the group. To show that competitive spirit for the two brothers, the game meant so much for LeBron and Big Z, it was a very emotional game for the two of them. It is tough. These are extreme circumstances that you don't see every day in this league. And I'm glad to see that as a collective group, we stepped up to play as one. It is really for them, but as a group it's a nice effort."
(On the atmosphere): "It was a very good atmosphere. It felt like a playoff game. It was another great experience for us. We're going through a lot of extreme circumstances early in the year. These will benefit us later in the year. They are helping us get to know each other. But in a game like today, it was really a group of players playing for each other and really trying to show that respect for each other."
(On the group effort): "We feel like we've always had enough (effort), even with the injuries and we've faced some definitive, serious adversity with Udonis being out. But we feel like we have enough. We are not a three-man team by any stretch of the imagination. We understand that we're at our best when the ball is moving, we create triggers and we hunt down the best available shot. Dwyane, LeBron and Chris create a lot of those opportunities, but they are playing very poised and striking that balance of being aggressive but also creating plays for the team. Thirty assists speaks to that."
(On LeBron's performance): "It is impressive. It takes a special player and person to be able to respond to all of this scrutiny. The only thing I can think of is it is unique, the way he has grown up. He's been under the spotlight since he was in 6th or 7th grade. Coming back to this arena was probably strange, but playing in front of the media and fans and all the scrutiny, that's nothing new to him. He's been able to emotionally deal with that for several years. If anyone were to be able to hand this type of intense environment, LeBron would be the type of guy who could to that."

ZYDRUNAS ILGAUSKAS

(On the crowd's reception): "It was nice. There was a lot of hatred in the air. I knew I wasn't going to get the same reception that LeBron got as far as negativity goes. I tried to block it out as much as I could because I knew it was going to be a tough game for us and emotional, so I tried to block it out as best I could."
(On the crowd noise): "I was smiling because that is the loudest this crowd has been toward opposing teams including the playoffs and the Finals. So that brought a smile to my face because this is regular season game 20 for us. To me it's funny. I've been through enough in life and I'm comfortable with who I am as a person at this point in my personal life so the boos do not bother me."
(On security): "Everywhere we go it's a lot like this. We get booed everywhere we go. We get heckled everywhere we go. Obviously not like this. Security did their job and the people got out their frustrations and everything else. We'll move on and tomorrow the sun will come up again and life goes on."
(On emotions of the team): "The one good thing for this team is that we dealt with some adversity early. We lost Udonis. We lost Mike Miller. A lot of new players around, we couldn't click it. We didn't know how to play with each other. But a lot of hatred has been created outside, not only in Cleveland, but everywhere else. It kind of unified the players. Guys have nobody to turn to but themselves. You could feel before the game the intensity outside the locker room. You could feel it was just booming for us to come out and you look on the guys faces and you could tell that this team was ready to play."

LEBRON JAMES

(On tonight's game): "I commend our team because we came in with the right mindset to get a win. We knew it was going to be a hostile environment because of what transpired this offseason and for us to have that bunker mentality to focus on the game like we did was great."
(On having no turnovers): "I understand what it takes to win. I understand it takes ball control to win and in any big game you can't turn the ball over. To only have nine turnovers as a team was great and for me to have zero as an individual was great, and it resulted in us getting easy buckets and playing efficiently."
(On approach to tonight's game): "So many things went through my mind. It was a combination of a lot (of things). I have nothing bad to say about these (Cleveland) fans. It was seven great years. We grew from 17 wins in the year before I got here to the last two seasons I was here being the best team in the regular season. I understand their frustration and I was frustrated also because we didn't accomplish what we wanted to do at the end of the day. I wish this organization and these fans, which are great, the best."
(On his feelings after the game): "I'm tired now. I'm very, very exhausted. I didn't get much sleep last night and I didn't get much sleep today like I do in my usual routine. But I'm glad we played well as a team. We all showed up."

DWYANE WADE

(On supporting LeBron tonight): "The one thing we preach in Miami is family. This is our brother coming back into a very emotional situation. We knew it was going to be a very hostile environment, so we had each other's back and it all took place on the basketball court. We came out with a great focus and it was our best complete game of the year. We knew that this guy is very mature and can handle himself in any situation. He can rise to the occasion when things look the darkest for him and he did that tonight. Our job was to just go out there and play team basketball and we did that."
