NEW YORK - The NBA players' union unanimously elected LeBron James as vice president on Friday, the same day it rejected the owners' proposal for sharing the nearly $2 billion in annual revenues that will come when the league's new TV deal begins in 2016.

James, 30, now has a formal leadership role in the players' union after holding enormous sway as perhaps the NBA's biggest star for years. It comes at a time when the players are preparing to stake their claim on revenues from the nine-year, $24 billion TV deal the league announced in October.

James joins National Basketball Players Association President Chris Paul, a close friend of James who encouraged him to join union leadership. James chose not to run for president in 2013 because of the time commitment, but a source close to him said this was something he wanted to do and was in contact with Paul and union executive director Michele Roberts before Friday's vote. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

NEW YORK -- LeBron James sat on that podium at Friday's All-Star media availability and answered question after question.

About 99.5 percent of those inquiries were retreads, questions James has responded to numerous times in the last two weeks. Yet, he cooperated as he so often does.

That's what separates him from other superstars in professional sports: the willingness to fulfill his obligation of addressing the media on a routine basis. In fact, James repeatedly exceeds what is mandatory. - CLICK HERE to read full story.

NEW YORK - There is something about this city for LeBron James.

Something in particular, actually, that he said is the reason his 11th consecutive start in the NBA All-Star Game Sunday would be his favorite.

"It's going to be the best All-Star game for me, to be able to be in the Garden," James said Friday at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, about the NBA's 64th All-Star Game to be played at Madison Square Garden. - CLICK HERE to read full story.
