Are LeBron James and Kyrie Irving developing chemistry? Hey, Joe!

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Do you have a Cavs question that you'd like to have answered in Hey, Joe? Submit it here or tweet him @joevardon.

Hey, Joe: Do you think Dan Gilbert understands that the more LeBron wants to embarrass our future president and enter into conflict with Donald Trump (e.g. not stay at Trump hotels, etc.) the more Dan Gilbert absorbs lost fan interest and disgust with his employees? -- R Mills, Akron

Hey R: I'm not sure where to take this one, honestly. We could go the route of, well, Dan doesn't get to decide what LeBron says or doesn't say, and vice versa. We could say that the weakest take out there is when someone says to an athlete "stick to sports," as though their voice doesn't count in our public discourse. I'm guessing you didn't mind when Jack Nicklaus stumped for Mitt Romney four years ago? Or, we could look at election results in Summit County, where you and LeBron are from (Hillary Clinton 51 percent, Trump 43), or Cuyahoga County, with Cleveland as its county seat (Clinton 65, Trump 30). There is no larger concentration of Cavs fans than in those two counties. And then we could ask, how much fan interest did Gilbert lose because LeBron chose to sleep somewhere other than Trump SoHo this week?

Author: Joe Vardon
Publication: Cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cavs (15-5) host the Miami Heat (7-15) at 7:30 tonight in the first of a three-game homestand.

What's up with the Cavs: LeBron James needs 26 points to pass Elvin Hayes (27,313 points) for 9th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list. James also needs 12 assists for 7,000 in his career -- he'd become the first forward in league history to reach 7,000 assists. Only 15 players (all guards) reached that number in their careers. The Cavs are 9-2 and averaging 115.3 points at home with five games where they scored at least 120. Cleveland doesn't expect J.R. Smith to be out long.

Cavs injuries: J.R. Smith (left knee hyperextension) is "to be determined," according to team release.
