Cavaliers 1975-76 Central Division Championship “Miracle” Team Returns To Gund Arena To Raise Banner

Northeast Ohio’s love affair with the “Miracle of Richfield” will be commemorated when the Cavaliers 1975-76 Central Division Championship banner is raised at halftime for permanent display in the rafters of Gund Arena. Longtime Cavaliers PA announcer Howie Chizek will introduce members of the “Miracle” team: Austin Carr, John Lambert, Campy Russell, Bingo Smith, Dick Snyder, Nate Thurmond, Foots Walker, Luke Witte, and head coach Bill Fitch. Three of these players, Carr, Bingo, and Thurmond have their numbers retired.

"We are proud to be celebrating 35 years of Cavaliers history and have dedicated this anniversary season to honoring some of the franchise's greatest moments," said Cavaliers Vice President of Marketing Tracy Marek. "The ‘Miracle of Richfield’ is still considered to be one of the Cleveland Cavaliers' most exciting seasons. It is certain to be one of the highlight events of this season."

To celebrate the spirit of the Hardwood Classics games, fans are encouraged to wear gold to complement the Cavaliers players on the court who will be wearing gold throwback uniforms similar to those worn by the 1975-76 “Miracle” team. The Magic will also be wearing their team’s throwback uniforms.
