35th Anniversary Celebration - Cavaliers Tip Off First of Six Hardwood Classics Games with “Record Breakers Night” on January 8th

CLEVELAND, Jan. 4 - This Saturday’s match up between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks will look and feel a little different on the court and in the stands—even outside.

To begin with, “Record Breakers Night,” in what is the first of six Cavaliers Hardwood Classics games, will actually be played at 1:30 in the afternoon this Saturday, January 8th at Gund Arena. To showcase the spirit of the 35th Anniversary Celebration event, fans are being asked to wear gold to complement the Cavaliers players on the court who will be wearing gold throwback uniforms similar to those worn by the 1975-76 “Miracle” team. The Knicks will also be wearing throwback uniforms for the nationally televised game on ABC.

“Record Breakers Night” will commemorate the three 50+ win seasons and five playoff appearances in seven years that took place between 1986 and 1993. The Lenny Wilkens-led Cavaliers exemplified excellence, professionalism and class, both on the court and off. In the process, these teams and players rewrote a vast majority of the Cavaliers record book.

“Record Breakers Night” will honor the record holders from this great era of Cavaliers basketball.
Along with Knicks Head Coach Lenny Wilkens, former Cavaliers players Tree Rollins (1988-1990), Winston Bennett (1989-1992), Terrell Brandon (1991-1997) and Larry Nance (1998-1994) will be in attendance and recognized in a special on-court presentation prior to tip off on Saturday.
