GameDay Preview: Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets

Game Summary

The Cavaliers will try to garner their 5th straight win tonight when they square off with the Brooklyn Nets for the fourth and final time this regular season. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Cleveland (47-26) is 8-1 in their last nine games, which includes a 5-1 mark on the road. Six of those eight victories have been won by at least 10 points.

Since Jan. 15, Cleveland owns the NBA’s best overall record (28-6), road record (13-6) and record against the West (14-1). During their 28-6 stretch, the Cavs also rank 1st in the NBA in winning percentage (.824), 1st in points per game differential (+11.2), 1st in three-pointers made per game (11.8), 2nd in field goal percentage (.473), 3rd in points per game (108.0) and 4th in three-point percentage (.384).

Defensively since that time, the Cavs are 11th in opponent field goal percentage (.437), 4th in opponent three-point percentage (.324) and 6th in opponent points per game (96.8).

Brooklyn (30-40) is a half game behind Boston for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference and begin a three-game homestand tonight. They will play nine of their final 12 games at the Barclays Center.

The Nets have dropped five of six at home, while the Wine and Gold have won five of six on the road.

The Cavs have outscored Brooklyn by an average of 17.0 points (107.3-90.3) this season, while shooting .478 from the field, including .423 from the three-point line, and dishing out 26.3 assists per game. The Wine and Gold have also outrebounded the Nets by 13.3 rebounds (47.3-34.0) in the first three meetings.

The two teams recently met just nine days ago when the Cavs overcame an early 13-point deficit to win 117-92 at The Q. On a night where every Cavaliers player who saw the floor scored, the offense dished out 32 assists for 117 points on 45-82 (.549) shooting from the field, including 15-29 (.517) from three point range. It was the Cavs’ 8th win by 25 or more points in 2014-15, tying the franchise record set in the 1988-89 season.
