GameDay Preview: Cavs vs. Knicks

Game Summary

The Wine and Gold host the New York Knicks tonight at Quicken Loans Arena. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Cleveland (24-39) will look to snap a three-game skid as they fell to the Bobcats 101-92 last night in Charlotte. Luol Deng and Dion Waiters led six double-figure scorers with 19 points apiece.

New York (23-40) grabbed a 108-81 home win over Utah on Friday, their second in a row after the team had dropped 13 of 15. Carmelo Anthony tallied 18 of his 29 points in a 39-point first quarter for the Knicks.

Key to the Game/Key Matchup

Key to the Game

Ball Movement

New York has had their struggles at times on the defensive end this season allowing opponents to shoot 46.1% from the field.

As mentioned, the Cavaliers did a tremendous job of sharing the basketball last night which led to six double-figure scorers.

If the Wine and Gold can continue to space the floor and move the basketball, they should get high percentage opportunities at the basket.

Key Matchup

Carmelo Anthony vs. Cavs Forwards

Carmelo Anthony is the one player on the Knicks who can take over a game and single-handedly beat you.

Anthony has led the Knicks with 29.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists over two games versus the Cavaliers this season.

Taking the task of trying to contain the seven-time NBA All-Star will most likely be Luol Deng and Alonzo Gee. Deng's defensive instincts and length combined with Gee's strength and athleticism should help when trying to contain Anthony tonight.
