The special event, hosted at Bossa Nova on Cleveland’s east side, held an element of surprise even for the 17 dance team members who had not seen the calendar prior to the moment it was unveiled.
For those in attendance, the first look at the calendar brought enthusiastic sounds of admiration. The reaction was a sign that the second installment of the Cavalier Girls Swimsuit Calendar will make an even bigger splash with fans this season, potentially making it the Cavaliers Team Shop’s #1 selling merchandise item for the second consecutive year.
The 15-month calendar, October 2005-December 2006, is now available for $15.00 on www.cavs.com and at the Cavalier Team Shop located in Quicken Loans Arena and arena souvenir stands.
Dressed in Latin-themed red cocktail dresses, the Cavalier Girls made a grand entrance using the club’s lengthy bar as their runway. They then performed a dance routine that was specially choreographed for the party before taking position for the calendar unveiling. The moment revealed which Cavalier Girl was selected for the coveted cover girl shot as voted on by fans in a cav.com poll. Thousands of votes were cast, with fans choosing Kristen as the Cavalier Girl to don the cover.
The calendar features stunning photographs of each girl posing in front of various backdrops of Cleveland’s Lake Erie shore. Under the direction of NewYork photographer and Cleveland native, Steve Vaccariello and art director Rob Babik, the photo shoot took place in early August. The swimsuit calendar is a high-quality 4-color gloss, 100 lb. stock that opens like a book rather than a standard flip calendar. Each Cavalier Girl is beautifully featured on an 18” x15” poster-like page that predominantly showcases the photograph.
Tracy Marek, Cavaliers vice president of marketing, oversaw the swimsuit calendar project along with Cavalier Girls dance team coordinator and choreographer Vandana Patel.
