Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers Improve to 11-1

The Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers ran their record to 11 - 1 by sweeping the 5th ranked Detroit Diehards at the Cleveland State University Recreation Center.

In game one, the Wheelchair Cavaliers jumped out to an early 10 - 2 lead behind baskets from Will Waller and Steve Smutak. Detroit fought back and kept the game close through out the first half. The Cavaliers lead 30 - 25 at the half. The Cavaliers started the second half slow allowing Detroit to pull within one, but the Cavaliers responded with a strong run and took control of the game and lead by as many as 18 points. The Cavaliers won the first game 54 to 40. Waller lead the Cavaliers in scoring with 34 followed by Smutak with 10, Dan Lemmer with 4, and Vince Momosor, Drew Lacko and Erik Whetstone with 2 each.

In game two, neither team could establish a lead in the first half, but the Cavaliers held a three point lead at the intermission. Once again, the Cavaliers responded in the second half and took a commanding 17 point lead late in the game. The Cavaliers won the contest by a score of 53 - 40. The Cavaliers were lead in scoring by Waller with 26, followed by Smutak with 14, Lacko with 6, Lemmer with 4 and Whetstone with 3.

The Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers will be hosting the Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers Invitation January 26 and 27. Games on January 26th will be played at Cleveland State University Recreation Center and games on January 27th will be played at Quicken Loans Arena.
