Oh The Places They’ll Go!

CLEVELAND, OH - January 31, 2012 - Cavs players Ramon Sessions and Tristan Thompson teamed up off the court for a special “Reading Timeout” on Monday, January 30th at Cleveland Clinic Courts. As part of the Cavs’ “Read to Achieve” presented by Time Warner Cable in association with Castaway Bay, the duo took 23 third grade students from Royalview Elementary School in Willowick on a journey of peaks and valleys in the great adventure of Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, The Places You’ll Go.” The classic story encouraged students to set goals to accomplish their dreams, while at the same time teaching the importance of facing challenges and overcoming obstacles.

After the final page was turned, the students divided into two teams, Team Sessions and Team Thompson, and went head-to-head in the ultimate cross-court challenge! The youngsters raced in a relay-style match by tossing on each player’s team jersey and pair of sneakers, and then dribbling down court to make a basket. In the end, Team Sessions was victorious, but all of the kids left the fun event as winners. Each student received a Cavs fan pack, four tickets and food vouchers to an upcoming Cavs game, and autographed photos from both Sessions and Thompson.

The classmates from Royalview Elementary were randomly selected from classrooms throughout northeast Ohio with 100% participation in the Cavs Read to Achieve challenge.
