Garfield Heights Kids Go on a Cavs Adventure

Just like life, the NBA season is full of adventures, and a group of local eighth graders had the chance to go on their own basketball adventure on Friday. Several students from Garfield Heights Middle School visited Cleveland Clinic Courts as part of the Cavs Read to Achieve program, presented in association with DDR.

The class was joined by Cavs PA announcer Olivier and members of the Scream Team to put their reading, critical thinking and basketball skills to the test for a basketball-themed scavenger hunt on the practice courts.

The afternoon’s activity supported January’s Read to Achieve theme, that reading is an adventure. Participating students across Northeast Ohio were challenged this month to read books that would take them on an adventure, whether it be set in a different country or traveling to the future, just to name a few. The adventures are limitless with reading!

ABOUT READ TO ACHIEVE
Presented in association with DDR

Read to Achieve is a year-round campaign designed to help young people develop a life-long love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. The program reaches thousands of elementary and middle school students in Northeast Ohio through reading challenges, reading time-outs, book drives, donations and the construction of Reading & Learning Centers.
