April Head of the Class and All-Star Kids Winners

Education is one of the pillars of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ community efforts and as part of that, the organization teams up with Chick-fil-A to recognize exemplary teachers and students throughout Northeast Ohio. Each month during the season, the Cavs and Chick-fil-A will select one teacher and one student to receive the team’s Head of the Class and All-Star Kids awards, respectively.

Head of the Class recognizes teachers in Northeast Ohio that make a difference in their students’ lives both inside and outside of the classroom. The winner for April, Juliet King, is a teacher at New Tech East Tech High School, where she has built strong relationships with students and is highly respected by both students and staff alike. She volunteers her time, helps students obtain their goals and is the go-to teacher for students struggling with OGT. Ms. King is the peer-mediation leader for the school and gets the best out of each and every one of her students. She empowers students in the their personal and academic lives. Ms. King also teaches at Tri-C Metro.

Ms. King enjoyed a visit from Cavs in-arena host Ahmaad and the team’s mascot, Sir C.C., who presented her with a $500.00 donation to use for her classroom, as well as lunch catered by Chick-fil-A for her class and an appearance by the Chick-fil-A Cow. She also received tickets to the April 13th game against Detroit, where she was honored on-court.

All-Star Kids recognizes students who set a positive example for their peers. April’s winner was Dasha Penn, a fifth grader at Warner Girls Leadership Academy, where she has made the honor roll both semesters this year and was selected as the outstanding science student for the first semester. She is a member of the News Crew, Big Buddy program and Book Club. Dasha is genuinely kind, thoughtful and respectful to her peers and teachers, and always follows through on projects and commitments.

Sir C.C. surprised Dasha’s class earlier this month to present her with tickets for her and her family to the April 10th game against Boston. She and her class also received lunch catered by Chick-fil-A and enjoyed a visit from the Chick-fil-A Cow. Marquitta was honored at center court before the start of the game on the 10th.
