Chicago Bulls assisting in Haitian relief efforts
January 15, 2010 -- The Chicago Bulls announced on Jan. 14 they will assist UNICEF with their on-going relief efforts from Tuesday’s devastating earthquake in Haiti.
During Friday’s game versus the Washington Wizards, the Bulls donated all net proceeds from the 50/50 Raffle ticket sales and in-arena auctions to UNICEF in support of rescue and relief efforts. Additionally, the team matched every dollar that was raised.
Volunteers from UNICEF were also on hand at the United Center to collect any monetary donations.
Throughout the game, the Bulls ran scoreboard messages, radio, television and public address announcements encouraging fans to assist by texting “HAITI” to “90999” to make a $10 donation to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts. Donations will be charged to the donor’s cell phone bill.
