Matchup History
Since being founded in 1989, the Minnesota Timberwolves have historically had strong rosters featuring NBA All-Stars including former Philadelphia 76er Jimmy Butler. Despite their contributions and the contributions of other talent, like 2004 NBA MVP Kevin Garnett, 2011 rebounding leader Kevin Love, and 3x NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, the Philadelphia 76ers still hold the advantage in head-to-head matchups with a 34-32 overall record through 66 games.
The T-Wolves and Sixers faced each other on two occasions during the 2022-23 season, splitting the series with one road win each. On March 7, 2023, Embiid and Maxey combined for 66 points against Minnesota, resulting in a 117-94 victory for the 76ers.
The Sixers and Timberwolves matched up twice in the 2023-24 season. Their first matchup of the season was on November 22 in Minnesota resulting in a road loss for the 76ers. On December 20, the Sixers took down the Timberwolves at home with a final score of 127-113; another 50+ point night from your NBA MVP Joel Embiid. Maxey and Embiid combined for 86 points on the night, and Embiid recorded his 12th consecutive game with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds, the longest streak since the NBA-ABA merger. He also tied a franchise record with Wilt Chamberlain and Allen Iverson, netting at least 35 points in his 5th straight game.
