July 13th Game Recap: Wizards vs. Hawks

Wizards Fall to Hawks

The Wizards opened up Summer League on Friday with a 102-82 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Despite the lopsided score, there were positives to take away from the first live 5-on-5 game played in about 2.5 months for the Wizards.

Bradley Beal was impressive in his first game as a pro, scoring a team-high 22 points in the effort. Beal looked strong on the court and showed off the cool demeanor that led him to be drafted with the #3 pick. He scored from both inside and outside, had a few impressive blocks on defense, and was a real bright spot for the team despite the loss.

After scoring just three first half points, Chris Singleton exploded for 17 in the second-half to finish with 20 points. He also added eight rebounds and four steals.

Jan Vesely showed off his shooting stroke early hitting a few jumpers in the first half and finished with 11 points in the game. Shelvin Mack finished with nine points and three assists.

Next, the Wizards play the Houston Rockets on Saturday night at 10 p.m. (et).
