Scouting Report | Wolves at Bulls

The Wolves will hope to snap a four-game losing streak on Tuesday night against the new-look Chicago Bulls.

Minnesota goes into the game with a 6-18 record, 14th in the West. Chicago is 13-10, fifth in the East.

A few tidbits going into Tuesday night’s game:

  • For those listening to the game, FSN’s Jim Petersen will be joining Alan Horton on the call.
  • In his first season in Chicago, point guard Rajon Rondo is averaging 8.3 points, 7.0 assists and a career-high 6.6 rebounds per game.
  • Minnesota gets a slight break after this game, not playing again until Saturday when the Wolves host the Rockets.

Coming Off Of…

The Wolves are coming off of a 116-108 home loss to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.

Karl-Anthony Towns led the Wolves with 25 points and 18 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine also scored 25 points each. Gorgui Dieng added 11 points and six rebounds.

The Bulls are coming off of a 105-100 home win over the Heat on Saturday. Jimmy Butler led the Bulls with 31 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Dwyane Wade finished with 28 points against his former team. Taj Gibson added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Last Matchup

The Wolves were 2-0 against the Bulls last season. The last game came on Feb. 6 in Minneapolis and the Wolves won 112-105.

Towns led the Wolves with 26 points and 17 rebounds. Dieng added 24 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Wiggins scored 21. Ricky Rubio had a nice all-around game of 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. LaVine led the bench with 13 points.

Pau Gasol (now with the Spurs) led the Bulls with 25 points. Derrick Rose (now with the Knicks) added 18 points and 10 assists. Bobby Portis led the second unit with 15 points.

Key Matchup: Zach LaVine vs. Dwyane Wade

Chicago’s veteran will have his hands full with LaVine, who is on a roll lately.

LaVine is averaging 20.4 points per game this season while shooting 37.8 percent from the field.

He’s scored 20 or more points in four of his last six games. In three career games against the Bulls, LaVine is averaging 10 points per game.

In his first season as a Bull, Wade is averaging 20.2 points per game while shooting a career-high 34.3 percent from the field. In 19 career games against the Wolves, Wade is averaging 25.9 points per game.

Injuries:

Chicago: Michael Carter-Williams (knee) is out.

Minnesota: Nikola Pekovic (ankle) is out. Nemanja Bjelica (ankle) is questionable.
