Scouting Report: Timberwolves at Bucks

Timberwolves vs. Pacers | 7:00 PM, MBO Harris Bradley Center

Where to Watch: FS North

Where To Listen: No Radio

There was no time to celebrate after last night’s 107-89 win over the Indiana Pacers. In fact, many of the younger players are getting their first taste of the NBA grind, playing their fourth game in seven days.

The Wolves have already faced off against the Bucks this preseason and at this point, it’s probably safe to say that Wolves coach Flip Saunders will be conservative with his lineups – not wanting to risk injuries before the regular season starts on Oct. 29.

Last Meeting

The two squads last faced off on Friday and the Bucks came away with a 105-98 win in Cedar Rapids. Rookie Jabari Parker stole the show for Milwaukee, scoring a game-high 21 points to go with 11 rebounds. Giannis Antetokounmpo had a solid night off the bench, scoring 19 points. O.J. Mayo also added 19 points. Khris Middleton and Jared Dudley scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Wolves had six players hit double-digits in this one. Second-year center Gorgui Dieng led the way with 16 points. Chase Budinger added 13 (5-of-9 from the field), while Anthony Benentt added 12 points and 11 boards. J.J. Barea, Andrew Wiggins and Thaddeus Young scored 10 points each.

This Week’s Results

The Wolves are coming off of a 107-89 win over the Indiana Pacers at home. Bennett had a big night off the bench, scoring 17 points in just 17 minutes. Birthday boy Ricky Rubio added 16 points and three steals, shooting 4-of-8 from the field.  as well.

The Bucks are coming off of a 120-107 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday. Mayo was in heat-check mode, scoring 24 points, shooting 6-of-10 from deep. Dudley and

Antekokounmpo added 14 points each. Parker and Minnesota native Nate Wolters put up 13 each, while John Henson and Middleton added 11 each. Talking about pairing up…

Key Matchup: Flip Saunders vs. Jason Kidd

Yes, we know neither of these two will be putting up any points for their respective teams, but with preseason basketball, the questions always begin and end with the coach. At this point in preseason, it’s kind of a guessing game on who will start and who won’t. For Saunders this is especially true, coming off of a game on Tuesday night. There are plenty of lineups to be used and with the season right around the corner, neither coach will want to risk injuries.
